W2PL Pilots,
Well most of the late results are in so I can now announce the Week 1
scores. Congratulations go to Roasty for continuing his form shown at the
end of Season I with the weeks highest score. Also a late entry from veteran
pilot CM Hawkins was good for second place overall in his debut outing in
W2PL - very well done Hawkins! John Doe claimed the third podium position to
add to his already impressive record.
A quick rundown of the scores by Division......
Division 1
----------
Roasty shows his class yet again with an impressive victory. Last years
Silver Trophy winner John Doe claims second spot and another Kappa pilot
Tempest rounds out the top 3. Artyis, the hot favorite for the Gold Trophy
on the W2PL Poll with 6 votes so far, comes in 4th nearly 10,000 points
behind the leader. Last years champion Mayk Drazzic languishes down in 10th
after a shaky start to his campaign. However, nobody will write off the
chances of the man who placed in the overall Top 3 on no less than 6
occassions in Season I. With 9 rounds still to come there is plenty of time
to make up the points differential. Nobody should be losing heart yet.
Division 2
----------
Much of the early voting put Cahir and Esmael as neck-and-neck favorites for
this Season's Silver Trophy. They both performed right up to expectations
placing 2nd and 3rd respectively, but it was Stele who suprised them both
with a late entry and the weeks highest score in Division 2. His confidence
must now be sky high going into the rest of the Season. With Herman's result
still to come and 3 non-flyers the bottom of Division 2 makes for fairly
dismal reading - come on guys, let's take to our cockpits in Week 2! There
is still plenty to play for.
Division 3
----------
This years race in Division 3 looks really exciting with no fewer than 10
entries for Week 1 - great effort guys - keep it up! Hawkins supreme effort
wins the Division by nearly 20,000 points! His colleague Zyrax makes it a
successful start for Kappa's W2PL debut makers. Akira's experience in the
cockpit is good for 3rd place. The scores below that are all very, very
close and bode well for a highly exciting Season of competition. Great start
everyone!
W2PL Cup
--------
With the help of Tod the First Round of the Cup has been drawn. As you
should now be aware this competition runs parallel to the main League. Your
result for Week 2 will count for both the usual League and in one-on-one
knockout matchup with another W2PL pilot. With 32 pilots registered there
are no byes. The full draw can be seen in all it's glory on the W2PL site on
the Knockout page. You can peruse this at your leisure to see who you are up
against, but I will comment on a few of the really exciting matchups.
Dash vs. Hermann - Kappa's young guns - a great potential fight.
Regis vs. Nergal - battle of the Sigma boys !!
Cahir vs. Gambit - battle of the Simga boys - Part II !!
John Doe vs. Jon - this comp. ain't big enough for the two of 'em!
Artyis vs. Ford - Wing II's big boys meet head on!
Algaron vs. Stele - blood, sweat and tears all the way in this one!
There are certainly a lot of mouth wateringly exciting ties there - I hope
it will add some real fervour to the scoring in Week 2 - a lot of pride is
on the line - make yourself proud!
That should do it for Week 1 - let's hope for even more excitement and 100%
participation in Week 2. Full Pilot and Squadron Tables will be drawn up
next Monday.

Wing II Pilot League Season 2 starts!
|
--- Incoming transmission from CPT Algaron ---
W2PL Pilots,
Well here we go!!!
Welcome to the first week of W2PL Season II - over the course of the next 10
weeks we will find out who the best, and most consistent pilots in the
history of Wing II really are.
For your first weekly assignment I would like you all to fly FREE-TIE 56
"Drizzt #1". This is a T/D mission so it should be a walk in the park for
all our experienced pilots. The deadline for submitting your completed TFR
to me is 6PM GMT on Sunday 9th September. The usual rules apply from last
season in that if you require an extension you must email me before the
deadline or you will receive a zero score for the week.
Remember this competition is open to all Wing II pilots and Wing II
veterans, irrespective of whether you flew the playoff mission. As you all
know Division 1 and Division 2 consist of 10 pilots, whereas Division 3 will
carry all the remaining active pilots. After Week 1 has concluded I will
create an individual mailing list so that only active pilots will receive my
weekly emails.
If anyone has any comments and questions please feel free to email me, but I
think everything should be straightforward.
The mission is attached - if you want to become an active W2PL pilot all you
have to do is fly it and submit the TFR to me. I will be updating the
website in the next couple of days so keep checking back for the latest
news.
Squadron CMDR's please forward this on to all of your pilots and encourage
full participation.
Good luck to everyone taking part!!
